CL – Chris Lavina was born in Dumaguete but raised everywhere else. For the exhibition ‘atoa,’ Chris has chosen to explore his obsession with time and place. Initially working with a familiar medium – photography, he has also offered a sculptural piece, a first for him.
With my work, I explore our relationship with built and natural environments. Time seemingly a major consideration for these works. This exhibition has seen me extend those ideas into an installation. I’m now obsessed with time machines. The piece ‘time-sa’ (‘hold on’ or ‘wait a sec’) is the simplest of the series of machines, but I feel it is of the moment.”
